to the story. and ron is back with those details. >> the fbi says the bucket list bandit is the busted bucket list former bandit. he pulled off the bank jobs spanning thousands of miles. after a routine traffic stop. when michael brewster was pulled over for running a stop sign on the border of arkansas and oklahoma, little did police know that this 54-year-old florida man was suspected by the fbi of being the bucket list bandit. investigators say he earned the nickname, after three months of robbing banks, telling bank tellers he had a gun and four months to live. >> was this guy really terminally ill? or was he just trying to be a mastermind? >> reporter: according to investigators, brewster never said just what he was supposedly dying of or why he needed the money. but his former landlord tells abc news, that brewster was evicted from his pensacola apartment on june 14th. seven days later, the fbi says he showed up in this stolen suv in arvada, colorado. and was in a spree of bank robberies that would crisscross the nation. >> he committed a total of ten bank robberies is a little startlin

in situation. both pittsburgh and fbi s.w.a.t. teams are on the scene of a hostage situation taking place on the 16th floor of a downtown highway. the cw brightsman company we understand is the setting for all of this. an ex-military man we're told walked into that office this morning where apparently he used to work. asked for one individual in particular and has now taken hostages. it is not absolutely clear that the one person that he named is the person who is being held hostage. there might be as many as two hostages. we're told no shots have been fired. unknown weaponry involved and police say they have a visual wall on the suspect the they know who he is. they have brought his mother to the building to help deal with negotiations but so far the hostage situation continues in downtown pittsburgh on the 16th floor of a high-rise. no shots fired so far. we'll keep you updated as the hour rolls along. >> we will. brand new stories and more breaking news. jon: good to see you, arthel the white house is it calling the assault in lib libya a terrorist attack. what is the political fallout

the fbi has spoken to him. a lot of people are trying to track him down. when cnn tried to obtain a copy of the film permit, it was temporarily removed because of public safety concerns. one thing is now clear, sam bacile, a name that surfaced early in reporting, is a fake. miguel marquez investigates. >> reporter: he is a shadowy maker of a low-budget anti-islamic film. he doesn't want to be found and as we discovered, for good reason. in 1997, he spent a year in prison for intent to manufacture methamphetamine. in 2010, he spent another year in federal prison, this time for fraud. >> these are some of the documents for sam bacile or nakoula basseley nakoula. it is clear that going through these, investigators had a hard time tracking him down as well. the guy had several addresses, many social security numbers and lots of names. court documents show he used at least 17 different names, including sam bacile, kritbagh difrait, kurt tobacco. anything having anything to do with with sam bassil is scared to death. a man that lives here says that nakoula bassi used his address to get credit

workers have been ordered to leave the country this morning, as the fbi and other agencies try to figure out who carried out the malicious attack that killed ambassador chris stevens and three other americans. >> i want to assure you, we will bring their killers to justice. >> reporter: the attack was complex and preplanned. likely, for the anniversary of september 11th. it was around 10:00 at night in libya. 20 heavily armed attackers began firing at the libyan security guards protecting the american consulate, before setting the main building ablaze. inside, ambassador stevens and several others were trapped between the flames and the gunfire. stevens became separated from the others by the heavy, black smoke, while trying to exit the building. it was nearly a five-hour gun battle. additional security eventually regained some control, while employees escaped. but the buildings are now abandoned. it was also nearly 12 hours before ambassador stevens' body was returned by local libyans, who had carried him to a hospital in an effort to save him. a contingent of some 50 u.s. marines is no
